REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology is an ancient cultural practice with a modern history of scientific study. Early civilization’s in the Far East and Egypt and tribal communities of the Americas used hand and foot work as a healing method.
Reflexologists use the feet and hands as a mirror of the body. The stimulation of specific reflex points can affect associated organs and systems; for example, the big toe reflects the head and brain. Combinations of massage and pressure techniques over the feet produces deep relaxation.
Reflexology can be done on the hands, but most reflexologists work on the feet, so expect to take off your footwear and relax on a couch or reclining chair. The practitioner stimulates the reflex points by using alternating thumb pressure on each foot, observing any areas of tenderness.

Most people find the treatment relaxing, but rarely, a slight worsening of symptoms, indicating that the body’s natural healing process has begun, can follow it. Once balance has been reached, it is important to have regular treatments to maintain this.

It has been shown that Reflexology may help by:
• Balancing the whole system
• Cleansing the body of toxins and impurities
• Inducing deep relaxation and improving sleep
• Improving circulation
• Revitalising energy
• Reducing Stress

INDIAN CHAMPISSAGE (HEAD MASSAGE)

The head represents who you are. It is the center of your nervous system, the seat of your intelligence and it gives you your identity. If your head feels good, you feel good. Champissage has been practiced in India for over 4000 years. (Champi is the Hindu word for head massage and is the origin of our word shampoo.) It is based on the Ayurvedic system of healing and forms a part of daily life in India.
The aim of Champissage is to release the stress that has built up in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. Your scalp, face, neck and shoulders are massaged gently and rhythmically until tension simply floats away. It is a safe, simple, effective therapy that:
Champissage works with your body's energy and may help with:
• Stress-related conditions
• General and specific relaxation of muscles
• Dispersal of toxins
• Migraine
• Insomnia and disturbed sleep
• Eye strain and tension headaches
• Circulation
• Sinusitis
• Releases anxiety
• De-stresses the whole body.
In 2009/2010 an estimated 435,000 working people in Great Britain suffered from stress caused or made worse by their current or past work. In 2009/10, an estimated 9.8 million working days were lost through work-related stress.
